Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar clarified on Tuesday that the 50% seat capacity rule will not apply to hotel room occupancy.

“There are no restrictions on room occupancy in hotels,” Kumar said in a clarification. “Hotels are free to operate room accommodation according to approved capacity. The 50% capacity is only for hotel restaurants where food and beverages are served to guests,” Kumar said.

The government has said restaurants, hotels, clubs and pubs are expected to operate at 50% capacity from December 30 to January 2.
