A look at the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that the Saudi capital of Riyadh has an impressive project pipeline filled with top brands.

In the coming years, 42 new hotel projects with 9,689 rooms will open in Riyadh, our research revealed. We take a closer look at this impressive development list – and focus on some of the most amazing projects.

Hotel openings in Riyadh by year

In the second half of 2021, 16 hotels with 3,140 rooms should be commissioned.

For 2022, another ten projects with 2,332 keys are to be completed. After that, eight more openings with 2,444 rooms are planned for 2023, while eight more have been planned for 2024 and beyond.

Of the 42 new hotels in Riyadh, 23 will belong to the four-star category. The remaining 19 belong to the five-star luxury segment.

Major hotel brands are growing in Riyadh

Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts is currently working on three projects with a total of 484 keys.

That puts Radisson Hotel Group’s upscale brand just ahead of a pair of stalwarts from Hilton Worldwide. Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton Hotels & Resorts will each increase their presence by two properties, with 760 and 458 keys respectively.

Riyadh’s most impressive new hotel projects

World-renowned lifestyle brand Nobu will debut in Saudi Arabia in Q3 2021. The brand has signed a deal with local partner Dhaliliyah Investments to deliver the 120-room Nobu Hotel Riyadh project, which will include – of course – a signature Nobu restaurant. While Dhaliliyah will handle the architectural work, Rockwell Group of Spain has been tasked with the interior design.

Elsewhere, and located in a new mixed-use complex, the Sofitel Riyadh – King Abdullah Foundation Hotel will be inaugurated alongside a convention center, a mosque and the foundation’s headquarters in the third quarter of 2022. The establishment will offer 388 rooms, six F&B outlets, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, spa and additional leisure facilities. Saudi Diyar Consultants and Richmond Design are working together to create what promises to be a stunning addition to the city’s skyline.

And finally, once opened in early 2022, the Novotel Riyadh Olaya will offer 215 welcoming rooms as well as meeting spaces, a fitness center, wellness facilities and a swimming pool with terrace. An all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge with coffee corner, and 24/7 room service will keep you from going hungry. And the hotel’s location near bustling Tahlya Street ensures convenient access to local restaurants and retail outlets, while King Khaled International Airport is just a 45-minute drive away.
