CAIRO: The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that 19 new hotel facilities were opened and operated in 2021, adding 3,000 new hotel rooms to the total hotel capacity.
The ministry said hotels have opened in the Red Sea, South Sinai, Giza, Suez, Damietta, Mansoura and North Coast governorates.
This is in line with the sustainable development strategy of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and Egypt’s Vision 2030, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian tourist destinations and encouraging investment.
Mohamed Amer, Director General of the General Directorate of Hospitality Control and Inspection at the Ministry, said the new facilities have directly contributed to creating around 2,500 new job opportunities.
Mohamed Hajjaj, director general of the general administration of hotel establishment licensing at the ministry, said four new hotel projects are expected to open in the next two months in the governorates of South Sinai, Red Sea and Cairo, adding 600 hotel rooms. to the country’s total hotel capacity.
He pointed out that the applications for the exploitation of these projects are currently being studied and coordinated with the authorities concerned and competent to issue them a tourist license.
