Hilton Singapore is set to reopen as Voco Orchard Singapore in early 2021

In the coming years, IHG plans to open 463 hotel programs with 99,659 rooms worldwide, according to our research. We take a closer look at these ambitious plans and pick out some of the properties you really should know about.
IHG hotel openings by year
In the remaining months of 2021, 88 new hotels with 18,988 rooms are expected to open. And 2022 will also be busy, with no fewer than 146 launches and 31,460 keys currently on its development slate.
Things will slow down a bit in 2023, however, with just 99 projects and 20,688 rooms set to go live as it stands. For 2024 and beyond, 130 other hotels with 28,523 rooms are already under construction.
IHG growth plans by region
IHG is focusing the majority of its resources on APAC – 264 hotels with 58,535 keys are expected to go live here in the near future. China will take the lion’s share of those openings with 155 properties and 33,998 keys going to the People’s Republic, although Australia is also a key growth market, as evidenced by its tally of 22 projects and 4,440 rooms.
Europe ranks second in IHG’s region-by-region ranking, with 72 projects and 12,972 keys. But North America follows close behind with 71 projects planned and 11,425 rooms, helped by a strong performance in the United States, where 61 projects and 9,872 keys are on the way.
In the Middle East, IHG expects 41 openings and 13,908 additional rooms, while Africa will soon see nine projects with 1,694 keys launched.
Fastest growing hotel brands in the IHG portfolio
Hotel Indigo tops the list of IHG’s fastest growing flags – this prolific upscale brand currently has 90 projects and 15,411 rooms on its books.
Elsewhere, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts will increase its footprint by 79 properties and 20,367 keys. And iconic luxury brand InterContinental Hotels & Resorts will add 71 programs with 16,785 keys to its portfolio.
Notable hotel openings in the IHG pipeline
Fittingly, the three notable IHG projects listed below are in APAC, the hospitality company’s fastest growing region.
We start with the InterContinental Vientiane in Laos, a 400-room hotel that will be part of the World Trade Center under construction. The property will also provide guests with easy access to major city sights and the international airport, and will feature a swimming pool, spa, fitness center and several upscale restaurants. . An opening date has yet to be announced.
In neighboring Singapore, the current Hilton Singapore is being rebranded to join IHG’s Voco chain. The property is set to reopen as Voco Orchard Singapore in early 2021. With 423 hotel rooms and 12 meeting rooms, it will feature Voco’s signature design, making it ideal for leisure and business. style-conscious business travellers.
Meanwhile, in China’s Fujian province, the Crowne Plaza Quanzhou Riverview will be launched before the end of this year. It will have 372 rooms in an ideal location near the main tourist, business, commercial and cultural centers of the city. On-site, guests will find 1,633 square meters of versatile event space, as well as a fitness center, pool, and restaurant.
