Martin Seeley, CEO and sleep expert at mattressnextday.co.uk, shared his top tips with Birmingham Live.
“When booking your room, remember to request a room on a higher level, as you are less likely to be disturbed by street noise or noise from the hotel lobby or bar”, explains Martin. “You should also make sure to request a room away from the elevator as this is also likely to be noisy and keep you awake.”
But it’s not just the location that’s important for getting the best part possible.
Martin added: “Being too hot or too cold can disrupt your sleep, so try to choose a room that has an air conditioning system, so you control the temperature. At least two hours before bed, set it to 15.6 to 19.4 degrees. Celsius, because it creates the perfect sleeping environment.”
He spoke as holiday bookings continue to soar amid the easing of Covid restrictions around the world.
On The Beach reported that sales have been “resilient” so far over the past eight weeks, rising 33% from pre-pandemic levels. He added that he was optimistic about the recent easing of travel restrictions from the UK to Spain and its islands, which he said “should support a stronger late market”.
As for which hotels to book, the website also advises: “Booking a 3-star hotel means you avoid the higher price tag associated with 4- and 5-star hotels, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a compromise. There are many 3-star hotels. star hotels that are packed with facilities, offer comfortable rooms AND have fun activities for the whole gang, just look for them!”
